HKWALLS 2021

ABOUT

I was honored to be selected as an artist for HKWALLS 2021, an annual street art festival based in Hong Kong. The 2021 event took place in Sai Kung and was supported by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (HKSAR). As part of this vibrant festival, I painted a mural on a 12-meter-long brick wall at Man Yee Playground, which is managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. This project allowed me to contribute to the local art scene and engage with the community through my work.

The Tallest Antique Building in Sai Kung

CONCEPT

The concept for my mural centered around the tallest antique building in Sai Kung. Instead of depicting a traditional vertical structure, I painted a horizontal building with lush plant growth both inside and out. This design symbolizes the historical and cultural significance of Sai Kung while integrating botanical elements to represent community growth and thriving environments. The mural serves as a perfect blend of heritage and contemporary art, making Man Yee Playground a vibrant society zone for the community.

INSPIRATION

Historical and Botanical Fusion

The inspiration for this mural came from the rich history and cultural heritage of Sai Kung. I aimed to capture the essence of one of its most iconic antique buildings while infusing it with botanical art. The greenery symbolizes growth, renewal, and the nurturing spirit of the community. By combining historical architecture with contemporary art, the mural not only beautifies the space but also inspires the community to appreciate their cultural roots and embrace growth.
