MoMo Café

COURTYARD BY MARRIOTT

ABOUT

Courtyard by Marriott Hong Kong approached me to create a mural for their newly renovated MoMo Café. The story behind this collaboration is quite interesting. While working on a 20-meter-wide community street art mural in Sai Ying Pun for Henderson Land Development, I caught the attention of a representative from Courtyard by Marriott. Impressed by my work, they handed me their business card and invited me to collaborate on this exciting project. My expertise as a mural artist and my unique approach to capturing the essence of local culture made me the perfect choice for this mural.

CONCEPT

THE VIEW TO SAI YING PUN

The mural, titled "A View to Sai Ying Pun," is designed to reflect the vibrant and diverse cultural aspects of the Sai Ying Pun district in Hong Kong. Instead of creating a traditional city landscape, I opted for an innovative perspective that combines antique and modern architectural elements. This approach offers a fresh and engaging view of the district, aligning with the renovation goals of MoMo Café to create a space that is both contemporary and deeply rooted in local culture.

This is a close-up shot of the mural at Courtyard by Marriott Hong Kong, MoMo Cafe. It illustrates a perspective view from 1/F, featuring Hong Kong’s sign, local store, and antique gate.

INSPIRATION

LOCAL SHOPS & MARKETS

Inspired by the local shops, stores, and markets of Sai Ying Pun, the mural creates an illusion of a retro city view. By blending elements of antique and modern architecture, the artwork captures Sai Ying Pun's historical essence while showcasing its evolution. The mural serves as a visual narrative of the district's rich history and dynamic present, providing café patrons with a unique and immersive experience.
